Precision back purging for procedure qualification, welder certification, and weld coupon testing. Engineered to deliver uniform purge coverage in every welding position.

Weld procedure qualification depends on consistent root shielding. The MAVWELD Purge Block was developed to eliminate the shortcomings commonly found in conventional purge fixtures, including:

Uneven purge flow: Dead zones develop near the ends of the coupon.
Coupons lifting during welding: Gaps allow air to enter the purge zone and contaminate the root.
Inconsistent results between welding positions: Purge coverage works well in 1G but can create sugaring in vertical or overhead positions.

At the heart of the system is MAVWELD’s proprietary internal gas distribution technology. Unlike conventional purge blocks that create localized flow paths and dead zones, the MAVWELD design delivers uniform shielding gas coverage across the full length of the coupon.

Whether welding in 1G, 2G, 3G, or 4G positions, operators can achieve consistent purge conditions without repositioning, modifying, or reconfiguring the fixture.
